About Me
I was born and raised in Peru, and have lived in the United States for over half of my life. I am happy and excited to call Seattle home, but at the same time Peru will always be my home as well. This international uprooting is partly where my experience in multiculturalism comes from, but it did not start there. Have you been wondering where my last name comes from? I have Inca ancestry on my dad's side, and also inherited European roots from my mom. I grew up on the coast, in Lima, the capital city of Peru, where my dad moved from the Andes when he was very young. Multiculturalism has been with me since I was born.
I am passionate about therapy because it allows me to form a very deep relationship with another human. I feel honored to listen to my clients' stories, and to be transformed and healed by them too.
Due to my extensive work with the Latinx population, I have been designated as an Ethnic Minorities Mental Health Specialist. I enjoy working with new arrivals to the country: with people who feel different than the majority and are used to seeing life from a very different perspective than what they find themselves surrounded by.
When I am not doing therapy you can find me cuddling with my chocolate Labrador, Coya (her name means "Queen" in Quechua), planning my next trip, dancing or catching a fitness class, listening to music, going to concerts, plays, movies, art galleries, or finding my next book to read. Getting together with my friends and family is also a big source of enjoyment for me.
